MAC Mineralize Volcanic Ash Exfoliator
Why haven’t I tried this Volcanic Ash Exfoliator from MAC until now?!
I know I’m super late to the game on this one! Almost 9 years from when it first released to be exact. It’s my darn Filipino time, I tell you! I’m always late! But I’m here now and I absolutely love this super black gritty glob of amazingness.
I finally purchased this last week when I went into my local MAC counter over Belks in Destin.
I bought some other products from the newly released Retro Matte collection, an eye shadow, a liquid pen eyeliner, bronzer brush, and some mineralized Fix+ solution. I’ll definitely do another post of my MAC haul shortly to tell you about those.
Since it’s a new year, I wanted to experiment and update my skincare routine. I’ve been on the lookout for some products to add to my lineup. Since I was at MAC, I finally decided to snag up the Volcanic Ash Exfoliator. I haven’t used an exfoliator in a long time and now that I’m in my late 30s (OMG, I can’t believe I’ve made it this long.) I need to make sure that I really take care of my skin.
Let’s get into it…
A highly-effective cleanser and exfoliator that unclogs pores and adds instant moisture.
A dual-purpose cleansing and exfoliating scrub that blends natural volcanic ash with fine sugar crystals. Highly effective, the mineral-rich, concentrated formula foams on to refine and unclog the skin and add instant moisture, leaving skin feeling soft and comfortably clean. Rinses off with warm water.

My experience with the Volcanic Ash Exfoliator so far…
My first time using it, I wet my hands with water and just patted my face just to make it moist and squeezed out the black funky looking awesomeness and started adding it to my face in circular motions.
As you can tell, it comes out thick and BLACK. You can also see the finely grinded sugar.
After I’m done massaging the volcanic exfoliator all over my face and the sugar has dissolved, I wash it off with warm water and pat my face dry with my face towel.
I’ve also tried using this in the shower, but prefer using it at my bathroom sink. When I used it in the shower, I found that the sugar dissolves a lot faster. I like to take my time and make sure that I work in the exfoliator every where on my face, especially around the curves of my nose.
Now, the look of the Volcanic Exfoliator isn’t the best but the aroma is amazing. It’s like you’re in a spa. It has a clean fresh aroma.
I’m very impressed with this. It doesn’t dry my skin after I use it. Which is a plus, especially now that it’s winter. This will be in my skincare routine unless I can find another exfoliator that exceeds this product.
MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator is in their permanent line.
It contains 100 ml’s/3.4 fl oz in a tube for $30.
Have you tried their Volcanic Ash Exfoliator yet or do you have another Holy Grail exfoliator?
